This image is a political cartoon of a mother nourishing and comforting her child with a bottle of anti-psychotic and a pacifier in the form of the class two narcotic, Ritalin.  When I say class two narcotic, I am refering to a range of numbers from one to five that classifies drugs based on their medicinal value and potential for abuse.  For example, a drug such as heroine or cocaine would be a class one narcotic.  Drugs such as Ritalin, Adderol, Oxycontin are examples of class two narcotics that are dispensed everyday and can be found in many homes out in the open for children to possibly take on accident.  However, over the last five to ten years prescription drugs have become extremely popular in high school and even college.
This very reason is why I chose this picture.  The title of this picture is Generation Rx, which implies a generation full of drug abusing free loaders, who will never grow up to take on the consequences of their actions.  From the looks of this picture, it would seem that the parents are to blame as the mother is the one providing the baby with the bottle and pacifier.  Also, the American flag in the background on the mother`s shirt implies that this only occurs in America.  This shows how lazy parents have become.  Parents these days are raising their children on prescription drugs.  Rather than being a patient, caring mother or father these people just find a pill or the quick cure to give their children, which leads these kids to grow up believing that all their problems can fixed by a pill.  The sad thing though is that these same children grow up believing that since the drug their taking is prescription it won`t hurt them or affect them in any negative way.  These people are sadly mistaken.
